My sister sent me this book for Christmas and the card said it was her favourite. When someone recommends their favourite book (movie, song, etc.), I usually ignore them. For some reason, my interest in the object is sapped. I guess I like discovering things for myself.
In this case however, I'd like to offer to eat a big plate of my own words, because this book is truly a magnificent piece of art. (If you're like me, I've just turned you off from it!) I am constantly amazed at his words. I haven't read such satisfying prose in a very long time. I want to compare his artistry to Shakespeare, but perhaps he surpasses that playwright with this novel.
